If you have a minor general problem or question with or about the wiki please post it [link here] or PM mturf.
If you are having a problem with another user on the wiki, please PM mturf or (mod name) about it, and include as much detail as possible. We will ourselves deal with the issue when appropriate.
If you see a problem with a page locked to general users, there is usually a thread on this forum dedicated to that page. Post your comments there.
Please refer to the removing thanks rules.
If that does not clarify the matter, and you feel a user has not contributed to a page and their thanks is included, PM mturf or (mod) and we will look into it.
Remember, repeatedly removing thanks incorrectly is a ban-able offense.
obviously there's a few thing not everyone can do, so if a page needs deleting do the following;
if it needs deleting because it's a duplicate page with the wrong name - first check whether it has any valid info or better image than the correct page. if it does, copy the details over and add thanks to those that put up the original info. then, edit the duplicate page so that it simply says "the page you are looking for is insert name here". change the title of the page to "Delete". when u edit the page, just say "DELETE" in caps in the comment so we can clearly see it on recent changes. obviously try and fix any links that point to the wrong page.
if the page just needs deleting - delete the contents of the page. change the title of the page to "Delete", and say "DELETE" in the comment.
in both cases its important to say delete in the comment. do not add any unnecessary comments. the pages will be deleted as soon as a mod comes along and uses the search or recent changes function to highlight your edits.
as with deleting, only mods and admin can do it. just do as follows.
renaming is mainly for things that have been renamed (funnily enough). if a new release item/character/etc has just been given the wrong name, create the correct page and follow the above guidelines for duplicate pages.
if an item has been renamed, simply edit the page, and change the title to the new name. when you edit, add the comment "RENAME" so it stands out on the recent changes for us. again, dont add any unnecessary comments. obviously all links to the page need to be fixed. they wont work until we rename the page, but you are welcome to fix them. if it has not been renamed within 12 hours post it in this thread.
if you want to do the thankless task yourself, do the same, but yo have to FIX ALL BACKLINKS. all pages have tools at the bottom. one of them is backlinks. it shows all the wiki pages that link to that page. create the corrected page and change them ALL to link to the right page until the backlinks tool (when refreshed) shows no results. if you aren't comfortable correcting all the links, instead of renaming the page yourself, report it on these forums. its easy enough, but often done incorrectly or not at all, and a half done job is harder to fix than a fresh one in these cases. remember, renaming is a thankless job, just copy the info and make the pages work again. it's often easier to just ask a mod or admin to do it, then you can blame them if they break it ^-^
